"RIGHT IN TWO" - When I auditioned for the project, I was given a list of songs. Within days, I sent back my homemade karaoke versions of Schism and Stinkfist to get my foot into the door. The band had been rehearsing without a singer for a few months and a bunch of songs were on their workbench. In the list I saw a title I wasn’t familiar with. Long story short, days later I was called to rehearse with the band and the bassist told me that this was his personal pick and hoped we would be able to give this song justice eventually. They started to jam it instrumental as I googled the lyrics … I read Maynard’s words as they played and knew right there that I had missed out on a phenomenal piece of music. I went back home and listened to that song on repeat for days, learned all the words and analyzed Maynard’s intricate melodies. The next rehearsal I was ready and sang that song for the first time with them. It was a beautiful moment and probably a turning point for the project. It is now one “of my many” favorite tool songs, but definitely my favorite song to perform with Parabolus. It is the song I point out when people tell me they don’t like TOOL cause it is too heavy or complicated, that one is just perfect balance. "Eulogy" - For some its a deep-cut, for others a classic, but for drummers, its one of the trickiest TOOL song to get right, with the numerous polyrhythmic patterns and the inclusion of multiple electronic sound samples. Performing this song live was always a challenge for the band, but hearing the crowd shout "don't you step out of line" at the top of their lungs makes the whole thing worth it🌀 "You've claimed all this time that you would die for me.
